Earlier today at Surrey’s Iconic City Centre Library Mayor Diane Watts and Century Group unveiled a huge new project, the first of it’s kind south of the Fraser River. 3 Civic Plaza is Surrey’s first mixed use highrise development combining a premium boutique high rise hotel called Civic Hotel, the first in Surrey since the Guildford Sheraton over 20 years ago, and a residential tower soaring 50 stories into the sky.
At 517 feet tall, 3 Civic Plaza will be Surrey’s tallest tower, the second tallest residential tower in BC and the 5th tallest tower west of Calgary. The hotel will have a ground level restaurant, large meeting rooms to accommodate over 300 people and 160 guest rooms. The residential portion, located above Civic Hotel, will have 330 units with stunning views. I’m not going to lie I want to know what the Penthouse is worth. I will be checking the prices out when they’re made public, how often do you get a chance to own part of a landmark?
I’m a big fan of the design from Cotter Architects, especially the north and south elevation views with their unique windows and slender profile giving the impression that this building is even taller than it’s already impressive 50 stories. I’m also intrigued by what look like wind turbines tucked inside the arch like structure on the roof as seen from the east and west elevation views. Completion is scheduled for fall 2015.
