Surrey put on quite the show for Canada day. There were food trucks, a full scale model of a potential LRT train on display that could be hitting our streets, great music and tons of things for people of all ages to enjoy! My highlights were the entire Peak Performance Stage show with 20 great YVR bands pumping out amazing music (Redgy Blackout is going to win…), The LRT display and the main stage featuring local music phenom Hannah Georgas and Canadian rock music icons Sam Roberts Band.
Sorry about the mid song spin-o-rama, it’s a little fast…(barf)
I had an amazing time with my family and friends, this event was a huge success and really helped reinforce why I put all of this time into promoting Surrey. I’m already looking forward to next year! Check out the picture of the huge crowd watching Sam Roberts!
Surrey’s Canada Day festivities have grown to be the largest in western Canada drawing over 100,000 visitors to last years event. This year it’s looking like another blockbuster with everything from a freestyle motocross demo team, lots of fun activities for the kids, two stages featuring live music all day and a fireworks show to close out the evening. The Main Stage, presented by Chevron, will feature local favourite Hannah Georgas and 6 time Juno award winner Sam Roberts. The Second Stage, presented by 100.5 The Peak will feature the top 20 bands from it’s Peak Performance Project.
Last year’s event was crazy awesome, who will I see there this year?? Surrey Canada Day 2012 happens on Sunday July 1st (obviously…) at the Cloverdale Millennium Amphitheatre at the corner of 176th street and 64th Avenue and runs from 10am until 11pm (approximately) .
